Graduate History
The Graduate in Mathematics was established in 1965 and initially had only a master science program. In 1995, we expanded its activities to include a doctorate program. It was one of the first graduate courses accredited by the CFE (Camara of Higher Education) and it kept grade A throughout most of its existence. Today, with the introduction of a new grading system, it became a level 5 program, standing among the best training centers of mathematicians in the country.
Our graduate program always aggregated to its goals all activities related to the training of new researchers and professors for our universities. Prominent among them, to coordinate and encourage the research in mathematics and its applications, to promote the spread of Mathematical Knowledge, and to promote the improvement of mathematics education at all levels.
These activities aim to place the Ceará state and the country at the forefront of mathematical knowledge, essential for the prosperity of our society. In fact, one can not aspire to independence, well-being and progress without having a creative and innovative technology. This, in turn, will only exist as a result of an advanced degree of scientific development, and one of the basic tools for such development is undoubtedly Mathematics.
